Gidday all.

Just a note (if anyone is interested) that I Hhave finially got my vertical back up on HF

In the few days that I have been operating, I have found it to be an excellent multi_band antenna with a swr on all band of less than !.5:1

On 80 meters, the antenna has a fairly narrow bandwidth and the centre frequency is set by a silver mica cap that is set into the top of the antenna. I changed the one that came with it from 2250pf to 2000 pf. this raised the centre freqnecy from 3.500 mhz to 3.650. Thiis is ok for local activity but I would really like to put in a 1800pf which would set me squarly in the dx window... if anyone has a high voltage 1800 pf silver mica cap, i would appreciate it they are a bit hard to find these days.

So, if anyone wants my opinion, i have found the gap challanger a very useful multiuband antenna and i have received excellent reports on 14 and 21 mhz

If our technical officer would like, I am happy to give a bit of presentation on these antennas at a club meeting Thery are quite complicated in their operation and i have had a bit of correspondance from gap to explain how they work and how to tune them

thats enought 73's de Noel
